If you look at the top of the screen I’m sure you will notice some changes. I would like to talk about what these changes actually mean so no one is left in the dark.
Restaurant Reviews – This is where I will now be posting all my restaurant reviews. You can see new and old reviews. However, I will still make daily update posts and I will like the review from the front page. So you can still know when I update new content to this portion of the reviews. This past week I was looking a lot at how to become a food critic/restaurant review guides. What they do doesn’t really appeal to me. So I decided to give my own reviews a purpose. As opposed to food, I want to write about the actual restaurant. I want to rate a restaurant on design, ambiance, history of the restaurant, and stuff like that. I don’t want to go to a restaurant multiple times and try to remain anonymous so they don’t give me preferential treatment. Instead I want to interview the owners and chefs and ask them questions. Something else I noticed about most restaurant review sites catering to Japan don’t really have that many pictures of the restaurants or food. So this is also something that I’d like to try and do, get pictures of restaurants. So that is what these reviews will be based on. I’m still trying to work on how to actually organize these a little better so nothing is up there for the time being. We’ll see if that changes this weekend/next week.
City Reviews – This is quite an ambitious little project. Since I have a train pass that has quite a number of stations between where I live and work I thought I would try something novel. What I want to do is try and go to every city between my home and where I work. Why? Because I want to go exploring. I want to find cool and interesting places. Especially since I can hop on the train and ride around for free. So my rules that I’ve set for myself so far is to walk north, east, south, and west for ten minutes in each direction. Then once I’ve got my basic area set out, just walk around and see what the place has to offer. I want to try and report about things to do, restaurants (which I’ll also probably end up reviewing), parks, stores, places of interest, and stuff like that.
Places Reviews – The wording on this one is a little weird. It seems like places would be more for like the above. But no. Place reviews are for when I go somewhere not on my list. For example a zoo, big park, or like a hike on a mountain. That’s where stuff of this nature will go. Not sure how much there will be of these place reviews but we shall see.
Events – Event coverage. Neat places and events that are happening. I’m excited about this and the city reviews the most. What I need to do though is get more “hip” to what events are going on in Tokyo and try to go. Event reviews will be a little different because I’m going to be reporting about them a little before they actually take place so people know about them. Then afterward I’ll throw up event coverage. At least that will be the plan.
So this is what I’ll be trying to get together in the next month or so. Of course I’ll still be writing my blog, but I wanted the review portions of the site to be a little separated from the blog. That way it will be easier for people to find reviews and information they need.
I like the new look. I think you did a good job.
Thanks. I’m still not done with it though. I’m trying to figure what I should do with the logo.
You mean the title of the blog? I suggested to do an image, but I think the way you have it now is fine. Also, the fav-icon is nice too. No idea what it says but it’s Japanese ;)
